Do you remember the 70s and 80s craze of the mood ring? It was a funky little stone you wore on your finger that would change colour as your 'mood' changed, revealing to your friends and the people around you how you were feeling. Linked to your body heat, an increase in core temperature set your mood ring to deep purple or red and told a potential partner that you were in the right kind of mood.

Well, that's the idea behind Daan Roosegaarde's latest design innovation: the INTIMACY 2.0 range. Except, instead of a mood ring, it's a whole outfit. And it's seriously sexy.

The futuristic fashion wardrobe is outfitted with a range of black and white dresses which are composed partially out of leather and partially out of super-smart opaque e-foils which become increasingly transparent during close encounters with other people.

Your social interactions determine the opacity of your dress, so if you're feeling sexy or you're attracted to someone, you'll bare all for them to see. Apparently the opacity is linked to the wearer's heart rate, so this is one 'lie detector test' you aren't going to be able to fool. Barely-there nipple covers disappear in a heart-beat, and forget about covering up down below too: these dresses are purpose-built to show off your finest contours to those who make you a little hot under the collar.

The aptly named intimacy range is progressing into its third range with the 3.0 versions set to feature black and white dresses with electronics, LEDs and more. This is good news for Trekkies: The whole 'Star Trek' vision of the future just got a lot sexier with everyone walking around in sexy see-through outfits on the Enterprise!
